The inspiration of the artwork I made for Winter Solstice is from the flower and the seed.
Winter Solstice for me is like the rest of us, waking up to a fresh start. It's like the flower nurturing the seed and waiting for the new life to begin.
To apply the concept in my piece, I decided to use two parts in cooperation, one is a flower, acting as a stand, with black glaze on it. The other part is the seed wrapped within its husk.
When people hold the seed in their hand, they polish it with the essential oil, polishing themselves as well. When they hold it, the seed inside creates a sound, desperate with excitement to begin the next adventure, encouraging us to reflect on our own journey and the possibilities waiting ahead.
